Sting's Andrea Stinson to Participate in NBA All-Star Festivities

Charlotte Sting star Andrea Stinson will travel to Los Angeles this week to participate in festivities surrounding the 2004 NBA All-Star Weekend. Stinson, a two-time WNBA All-Star, will take part in many of the community appearances and promotional activities surrounding the 53rd Annual NBA All-Star Game, which will be held on Sunday, February 15 (8:00 p.m. EST) at STAPLES Center.

"I am honored to join all the other athletes and personalities this week at the NBA All-Star Game," said Stinson. "I truly enjoy giving back to the community and interacting with fans. This week will be a great opportunity to showcase what professional athletes can do both on the court and within the community."

Stinson will partake in the Read to Achieve Caravan, Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Basketball Clinics, the NWBA All-Star Wheelchair Classic, Mind.Body.Spirit. events, fan autograph sessions and interview circuits throughout the week. Joining Stinson as some of 20 WNBA players scheduled to attend are Sue Bird, Lisa Leslie, Tamika Catchings, Cynthia Cooper, Swin Cash and Rebecca Lobo.

Robert Johnson, owner of the Charlotte Sting and Charlotte Bobcats, will join Stinson in Los Angeles, taking part in the NBA Technology Summit on Friday, February 13. Johnson will speak on a panel to discuss how technology will define the sports viewing experience. Some others involved in the Tech Summit include: Charles Barkley (TNT), Jerry Colangelo (Phoenix Suns owner), Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Larry King (CNN) and Stuart Scott (ESPN).

Two other members of the greater Charlotte community will also be a part of the All-Star Weekend. Donnie Langford, a native of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, will represent the Charlotte Rollin' Bobcats on the East team in the 2004 NBA/National Wheelchair Basketball Association All-Star Wheelchair Classic, on Thursday, February 12 (7:30 p.m. EST) at NBA All-Star Jam Session. James "CJ" Davidson, an 11-year-old from Seneca, South Carolina, is among a group of five boys and five girls who will be honored guests as members of the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Team. Davidson's team will face a team of Los Angeles Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA All-Stars on Sunday, February 15 (12 noon EST) on Center Court of NBA Jam Session at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Charlotte Sting will open their eighth season of WNBA action on Friday, May 21st at the Charlotte Coliseum as they host the four-time WNBA champion Houston Comets.
