
Stingers Training Camp Roster Announced

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Sunday their 2023 training camp roster. The roster features 16 players including eleven Canadians, four Americans, and one international athlete with a range of CEBL and international experience.
"We have an extremely talented and versatile group coming into training camp," said Stingers head coach Jordan Baker "The challenge will be to have everyone working in the same direction as we open up the season with two very important games against Calgary.
Headlining the roster are four returners including former Sixth Man of the Year Adika Peter McNeilly, 2019 U SPORTS Player of the Year Brody Clarke and Edmonton native Aher Uguak. The trio was a part of the Stingers roster last year competing alongside former teammate turned head coach Baker. The latter two currently hold suspended status as they complete their seasons overseas before joining the Stingers this summer.
Also rejoining the Stingers is the Stingers U SPORTS draftee Somto Dimanochie, who will play his second season with the club after his rookie season in 2022. Forward Adam Paige out of the University of Alberta joins the Stingers as their second round U SPORTS draft pick.
Four Americans are included on the roster with guards Lucas Williamson and Jordan Burns joining forwards Nick Hornsby and Carlton Bragg Jr. Combined, the quartet brings 16 seasons of NCAA DI experience from major programs such as Kansas and Loyola Chicago. Williamson and Burns also bring a season of NBA G League each.
Canadians Jermaine Haley, Isiah Osbourne and Tevaun Kokko add depth and experience to the roster. Haley brings more NBA G League experience to the roster with two seasons under his belt. International addition Martynas Varnas out of Lithuanian brings nearly a decade of pro experience to the roster, competing in his native country for his entire career.
Rounding out the training camp roster are of current University of Alberta athletes Lars Ishimwe and Brandon Meiklejohn and former Golden Bears Abdullah Shittu and Geoffrey James. The four pad out the roster for the Stingers who will host training camp in Jasper, Alberta next week.
The Stingers begin their 2023 season with back-to-back games against the Calgary Surge May 27 and 28, first in Calgary then at home at the Flair Airlines Hangar in the Edmonton EXPO Centre.
