Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Thursday the signing of free agents Chris Parkin and Mike Attwood. As per club policy, the terms of each deal were not announced.

"Chris and Mike are both quality players that give us some added depth," said Hamley. "Chris Parkin has been a quality role player for a long time and we feel he will be able to contribute to our team in a variety of ways. Mike Attwood is a promising young goaltender that has done well in limited action in the pros and we think has a bright future ahead of him."

Chris Parkin, 27, registered 12GP-10G-15A-25P as a member of the NLL's Ottawa Rebel, New Jersey Storm, and Albany Attack between 2001 and 2003. Currently a member of the Ajax-Pickering Rock of the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Senior 'B' Division, Parkin finished the 2006 regular season ranked third in the league with 54 penalty minutes. The 5'9", 185 lb. forward was also the fourth highest scorer on his team with 12G-15A-27P in 12 games played. Parkin also saw action this past summer with the OLA's top Major Series team, the Brampton Excelsiors (2GP-1G-1A-2P). Last season, the Brampton native tallied 1G-1A-2P and 6PIM in 3 games played for the Excelsiors.

Goaltender Mike Attwood played this past summer for the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks of Major Series Lacrosse. The 21-year old registered a record of 4-3 and a G.A.A. of 11.13 in 523 minutes of action with the Kodiaks. A standout junior goalie with his hometown St. Catharine's Athletics, Atwood was originally drafted by Minnesota in the sixth round (55th overall) of the 2004 NLL Entry Draft. In three games with the Swarm in 2005, the 5'11", 200 lb. net minder allowed 8 goals on 30 shots for a save percentage of .733 and a G.A.A. of 12.09.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at the Glendale Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
