National Lacrosse League comes to MTS Centre for first time
Published on September 21, 2006 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
Winnipeg - True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and National Lacrosse League are pleased to announce the Toronto Rock will face the Minnesota Swarm in NLL exhibition action at the MTS Centre for the first time ever on Saturday, December 9th.
Entering its 21st season, the National Lacrosse League is North America's professional indoor lacrosse league, featuring the best lacrosse players in the world. The NLL has thirteen teams playing in the major markets of the United States and Canada. The Rock and Swarm are currently East Division Rivals in the NLL. Though both teams bowed out of the NLL post-season last year in the first round, the Rock have captured the National Lacrosse League championship five times in the last eight years. The Swarm joined the NLL back in 2004.
While the game will be the first of its kind at the MTS Centre, it will be the second time the Rock have played an exhibition game in Winnipeg. Back on December 8th, 2002, Toronto downed the Ottawa Rebel 11-7 at the old Winnipeg Arena.
Tickets are now available at all Ticketmaster locations, or by calling 780-3333 or by going online at www.ticketmaster.ca. Ticket prices range from $12.50 to $39.50, plus service charges.
