Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Monday the signing of defenseman Darren Halls to a one-year contract.

Halls is entering his second season in the NLL after being drafted in the first round (4th overall) by Arizona at the 2004 entry draft. As a rookie in 2005, the 6', 195 lb. defender tallied 2 points (1G-1A), 14 penalty minutes and 25 loose balls in 7 games. The Orangeville, Ontario, native was a finalist for Rookie of the Week honors in Week #3 after putting forth an outstanding defensive effort against the Rochester Knighthawks.

"We are glad to have Darren back with the Sting," Hamley said. "We look forward to him improving on a fine rookie campaign, and we know that he'll push our veterans for playing time in the upcoming season."

Prior to playing in the NLL, Halls played for the Orangeville Northmen of the Ontario Junior Lacrosse Association. He also represented Canada at the 2003 ILF Under-19 World Championships in Maryland.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In only their second season in Arizona (after re-locating from Columbus, Ohio), the Sting finished the 2005 regular season with a 9-7 record prior to going on to win the West Division Championship before losing to the Toronto Rock in the Champion's Cup Final (NLL title game).
