GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Monday the signing of defensemen Scott Self and Darren Halls to one-year contracts, pending league approval. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

"Scott and Darren are both quality players that we're happy to be bringing back," said Hamley. "Scott Self is a huge part of our defense and we'll be looking for him to continue his strong play in the upcoming season. Darren Halls has progressed nicely over the course of his first two seasons in the pros and we'll be looking for him to play with more consistency as he continues to mature."

Scott Self is coming off an impressive season in which he appeared in his first NLL All-Star Game and led all Arizona defensemen in assists (17) for a third straight year. The 27-year old finished the '06 campaign with 1G-17A-18P-86LB in addition to 8 PIM and 14 SOG. The 6'2", 205 lb. defender has also won two Mann Cup Titles with his hometown Peterborough Lakers as Canadian National Senior Champions. Self has won the Merv McKenzie Trophy as the top defenseman in Major Series Lacrosse each of the past two summers.

Darren Halls, 22, was Arizona's first pick (fourth overall) at the 2004 NLL Entry Draft. In two seasons in the Valley of the Sun, the 6'0", 195 lb. defender has seen action in 19 games, registering 2G-4A-6P in addition to 67 LB and 30 PIM.
