Sting re-sign Peter Veltman to one-year contract

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Monday the signing of forward Peter Veltman to a one-year contract, pending league approval. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Peter is a very talented young player that we're pleased to be bringing back," said Hamley. "He can play a variety of positions on the floor and is a real asset to our team in a number of ways."

Last season Veltman registered 15GP-7G-13A-20P for the Sting while spending time on both the defensive and attack units. The 23-year old also scooped up 50 loose balls and logged 20 PIM on the year while winning 68 of 119 face-off attempts. In 2005, Veltman scored 13 goals and dished out 13 assists for 26 points in 15 games with the Sting. As a rookie in 2004, the Orangeville, ON native saw action in nine games with Arizona, contributing 3G-3A-6P while winning 54.5% of his face-off attempts.

Originally drafted by the Ottawa Rebel in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2002 NLL Entry Draft, Veltman has tallied 23G-29A-52P in 39 career NLL games. In five career post-season contests, the 6'2", 205 lb. utility player has totaled 4G-3A-7P.
