Sting Already Causing Pain

October 9, 2012 - Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL)
Miami Sting News Release

The UIFL season is still nearly five months away but the newly relocated Miami Sting are causing pain for opposing coaches with the announcement of their first signings. The Sting are proud to announce the signings of La-Ronn Zimmerman, Chris Poindexter, Mikell Mair, Phil Goodman, Stefon Ceaser and Anthony Andre.

La-Ronn "Hollywood" Zimmerman, DL. Athletic, young, experienced DL with a non-stop motor. As a rookie in 2012 Zimmerman led the AIF in sacks. He turned down several Indoor/Arena football team contract offers to join the Sting and make this Championship run.

Chris "Storm" Pointdexter, RB. Pointdexter is a complete back that has great hands and a solid blocker. His dual threat to be a power back or speed back earned him the nickname Storm (Thunder and Lightning in one). In a 2012 game for the Ontario warriors he surpassed 100 yards on just eight carries.

Mikell "Boom" Mair, LB. Mair combines his speed and physical presence to anchor the middle of the defense. He earned his nickname by devastating hits on opposing players.

Phil "Air Show" Goodman, WR. Goodman played collegiately at Temple. He brings a solid indoor/arena resume to the Sting. He is a physical receiver with great hands that has been putting up big numbers for a few years. With the Stockton Lightning he scored nine td's in one game.

Stefon "Hale" Ceaser, WR. Ceaser is an elusive athletic receiver with great hands and will be a big contributor in the Sting return game.

Anthony "Lightning" Andre, QB- Anthony is an experienced indoor football QB with a high IQ. Andre possesses a big arm with athletic mobility. Andre gained his nickname due to his quick strike ability. Numerous times with the Warriors he led the offense to one play td drives.

Head Coach Keith Evans is very familiar with all these players as they were members of Evans former team, the 2012 undefeated Ontario Warriors team. Coach Evans stated "The signing of these young/veteran indoor/arena players will be key in us making this Championship run. In the coming month, there will be several more key players signed. We will be a high scoring team with a very stingy defense."
