Still Looking to Clinch, Wolves Head to Yakima

SAN JOSE, Calif---The San Jose Wolves (8-4) are still looking to punch their postseason ticket.
With just two games remaining in the regular season, the task has not become any easier. Road games in Yakima, Washington and Casper, Wyoming are all that remain for the expansion team that started 7-1 before hitting their first rough patch.
Three consecutive losses have opened the door for a pair of 6-6 teams from Washington. However, it is the Yakima Valley Warriors who have the best opportunity to steal the final playoff spot.
While the Warriors share the same record with instate rival Wenatchee Valley, Yakima's playoff aspirations lie almost entirely in their hands. Yakima can snatch the final spot with a win over the Wolves this week and another Wolves loss in Wyoming next week. That scenario would give each team an 8-6 record and the Warriors would hold the tiebreaker against the Wolves with 2 wins in the 3 game series.
The Wolves can dictate their own future by simply winning in Washington or Wyoming, unlike Yakima who needs a San Jose loss. Despite the recent struggles, the Wolves only trail the Baltimore Mariners in scoring offense, owning the league's second best mark.
San Jose received a forfeit victory from the Arctic Predators this past weekend as the Predators chose to fill out their home schedule with local teams, and accepting forfeits that have effectively eliminated the Predators.
