Cavalry Drop Wolves in Season Finale

Stockton Wolves News Release

CASPER, Wyom---While next week's playoff game was unaffected; the San Jose Wolves will definitely be riled up.

The Wolves (9-5) finished their first full season falling at the hands of the Wyoming Cavalry (13-1) 47-26 Sunday night at the Casper Events Center.

Plenty was made of how much, or little, the game would mean. The Wolves got off on the right foot as quarterback Patrick Carras led the offense down the field before Stephen Ferdanandi hit a 26 yard field goal and followed with the uno on the kickoff.

But the Cavalry took over as Matt Strand and Dante Dudley three times and the Cav's defense harassed Carras for six sacks to give Wyoming an 18-4.

The Wolves got the ball back with three minutes left in the half and Carras tried to pull San Jose with one score. However, Carras rolled to his left later in the drive and was slammed into the turf, fumbling the ball. Carras laid motionless for a few minutes before paramedics took him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a concussion and is expected to be released Monday morning after spending the night in the hospital for precautionary reasons.

San Jose found some rhythm in the second half as Omar Jacobs threw three touchdown passes, 2 to Jerome McGee, but it was not enough as the Cavalry offense finished with 229 yards with Strand throwing for 204 of those.

The Wolves will have a slightly different look in the Western Division Championship Sunday when regulars such as A.J. Bennett and Alex Wallace will be in uniform. The Cavalry kept their regulars on the field throughout.

The Western Division Championship will be broadcasted on the Wolves U- Stream Channel at 6:05 MDT (5:05 PDT) Sunday, July 11th from Casper, Wyoming.
