Losing Skid Hits All-Time Low Youngstown has dropped five straight games being outscored 25-14 over that stretch. The losing skid is the longest in franchise story erasing two separate four-game losing streak. The streak was extended last week with three straight losses to the Memphis RiverKings in the Chevrolet Centre. Away from home, the Hounds have lost two in a row and nine of their last 12 games. The team begins an eight-game road trip on Tuesday morning with a special early face-off time of 11:30 AM (EST) in Tulsa.

First Things First With all the new faces in the SteelHounds line-up, several players made their first mark with the Hounds during the team's recent home stand. On Friday, Mario Chinelli scored a power play goal marking his first point with the team (Chinelli has goals in each of the last two games). Defenseman Simo Pulkki notched an assist in Saturday's game versus Memphis giving him his first point as a Hound. In Friday's game, defenseman Kelly SIckavish scored his first professional goal in his 88th professional game.

SteelHounds See Immediate Results From Sewell Newcomer Joey Sewell made an immediate impact for the Hounds this past weekend scoring two goals and adding two assist in a pair of games. On Saturday, Sewell scored two second period goals, one tying the game with Memphis and the second giving the team a 4-3 lead. Memphis eventually won 5-4. Sewell was acquired from Tulsa early in the week in exchange for future considerations.

Power Outage The SteelHounds power play has short-circuited recently as on Wednesday morning versus Memphis they ended a stretch of 22 straight misses with the mad advantage. Over their last three games, the Hounds have scored one PP goal in each going 3 for 23 (14.0%). Looking back further, in their last nine games they have scored 4 PP goals in 57 chances (7%).

M*A*S*H* The SteelHounds have been snake bitten by injuries for a good portion of the season and currently have six players out of the line-up due to various injuries. Defenseman Jeff Alcombrack and forwards Troy Kahler and Dan Buccella are all on season-ending injured reserve and defenseman Matt Nicholson has retired. Forwards C.J. McConnell and defneseman Kris Mallette are each out of the line-up with various injuries but are both expected to return to the line-up in the next few days.

SteelHounds Are "Out For Blood" The Youngstown SteelHounds and the American Red Cross have joined forces for a blood drive that will include the Hounds participation at three different locations in late January and throughout February. The "Out For Blood" campaign saw Darryl Lloyd and Chris Shaffer visit the blood drive at Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Hall on Tuesday, January 31 and will continue on Feb. 13 when Crusher visits the blood drive at the Holiday Inn Boardman between 5:00-7:00 PM. The Lady SteelHounds will be at the Churchill United Methodist Church in Liberty on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) between 5:00-7:00 PM.
