Published on February 6, 2006 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The recipients of the Central Hockey League's Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for Week 16 of the CHL season have been announced, with Memphis right winger Don Parsons and Bossier-Shreveport netminder Ken Carroll honored. Parsons scored in three straight outings to lead Memphis to a three game road sweep in Youngstown, while Carroll picked up a pair of wins for the Mudbugs and recorded his CHL-leading fourth shutout of the season.

Two-time CHL Most Valuable Player Parsons scored goals in each of three Memphis wins in Youngstown this week. In a Wednesday morning meeting, he notched his 21st goal of the year in a 6-2 win. Friday night he recorded his fourth hat-trick of the year and chipped in an assist in a 5-3 victory, then scored another two goals and an assist the following evening in a 5-4 win. Named the playoff MVP after leading the RiverKings to their first CHL title in the 2001/2002 season, the red-hot Parsons has scored 11 goals in his last six outings.

With wins this week over Corpus Christi and Fort Worth, Carroll has now won six consecutive games for the Mudbugs while allowing a total of just nine goals against. He made 35 saves in a 4-1 victory at Corpus Christi in February 2nd, then stopped all 25 shots faced two nights later in a 3-0 shutout win in Fort Worth. Carroll and his Bossier-Shreveport teammates are in position to win their third straight Northeast Division title, entering play this week with a 13 point advantage over second place Memphis.
