Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

Youngstown, Ohio - The Youngstown SteelHounds and Cumulus Broadcasting LLC have announced that the pair will team up for a second consecutive year, as WBBW-ESPN 1240 will broadcast all 64 of the Hounds' regular-season games.

"It was exciting to be a part of the SteelHounds' inaugural season, and ESPN Radio 1240 The Fan is proud to continue its relationship with the team for the upcoming Central Hockey League (CHL) season," said Christian Aleshire, program director for ESPN 1240. "We were humbled the Hounds chose 1240 as their radio home."

The partnership was originally created in June 2005, with the contract extending through the 2007-08 season. In addition to the 64 regular-season games, the station will broadcast all potential SteelHounds playoff games as well as the team's "Countdown to Face-Off and post-game show, prior to and after each game.

"We are very pleased to join with WBBW again for the upcoming season," said Bob Hoffman, SteelHounds Assistant General Manager. "Being the valley's premier sports franchise calls for a partnership with the premier sports station, and with the level of service and professionalism WBBW provides there is no other radio home that fits with the SteelHounds."

Fans who tune in will be greeted by a new voice, as Chad Meyer takes over the reins as the voice of the SteelHounds. Meyer, a first-year account executive with the Hounds, is no stranger to the broadcasting booth. As a student at Ashland University, Meyer was the sports director and play-by-play commentator at his college radio station where he called all the action for AU athletics.

"Bob Hoffman did a phenomenal job broadcasting the games last year and we are more than confident Chad Meyer will do a great job bringing all the action to the fans this year," Aleshire said. "With respectable men such as Herb Washington, Joe Gregory, and Bob Hoffman running the team, the Youngstown SteelHounds are assured nothing but success in the future, and ESPN Radio 1240 The Fan is proud to be a part of it."

Cumulus Broadcasting LLC consists of eight stations in the Mahoning Valley including Rock 104, Hot 101, K-105, News Talk 790, 96.7 The River, WSOM AM 600 and Y-103, along with ESPN Radio 1240.

The SteelHounds open their second season in October at the Chevrolet Centre. For more information, call 330-747-7825.
