
Steelheads Visit Idaho Tuesday Night

GARY, Indiana (December 20, 2005) "" The Gary Steelheads continue a two-game Western Conference swing Tuesday night, visiting the Idaho Stampede at the Qwest Arena in Boise. The Steelheads have lost three of their last four games, falling back to .500 on the season. They continue to hold second place in the CBA's Eastern Conference.
The road trip began with a 106-97 loss at Yakama on Sunday night. Gary had a 72-65 lead late in the third quarter, but the Sun Kings scored the final seven points of the quarter to tie the game. They went on to win the fourth quarter, 106-97. The Steelheads picked up two quarter points in the defeat.
Eric Chatfield paced the Steelheads with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while his backcourt running mate, Jimmie "Snap" Hunter added 21 points. Hunter also grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
The Gary Steelheads were outrebounded for the 12th time in 14 games. Against Yakama, no Steelheads frontline player had more than 7 rebounds.
The Idaho Stampede find themselves in a two-game losing streak, having lost back-to-back games to the CBA defending champion Sioux Falls Skyforce. The last Stampede win came against the Steelheads on December 13th at the Genesis Center, 106-97.
