Gary Steelheads News Release

GARY, Indiana (April 17, 2007) - The Gary Steelheads signed high-flying guard Carl Edwards to a contract late Monday. He will be available for the game against the Delaware Starz Tuesday night. For the moment, Edwards will take the roster spot of another high flyer, Jamario Moon, who has left the team temporarily due to a death in the family.

The Gary Steelheads are also activating guard Akeem Clark and forward James Booyer, following injuries to guard Rob Griffin and center Chris Alexander. Clark and Booyer were the final cuts from the active roster prior to the beginning of the USBL season. Griffin was leading the CBA in scoring at 22.5 ppg, while Alexander was second in the league in blocked shots at 1.5 bpg.

Edwards was a CBA All-Star last season, while playing with the Indiana Alleycats. He will be reunited with Steelheads' assistant Rob Spon, who served as an assistant with the Alleycats last winter.

Edwards was a finalist in the Slam Dunk competition at the 2007 CBA All Star Game. He also played in the NBDL last season with Anaheim and Bakersfield. Edwards won a championship with the Rome Gladiators in the WBL during their 2006 season. He also played with the Dayton Jets of the IBL. Edwards played his college ball at the University of Charleston.
