GARY, Indiana (May 22, 2007) - The Gary Steelheads have released the third weekly edition of Showtime With the Steelheads for download through the OurSports Central web site. This week's program features coverage of the team's current winning streak, as well as interviews with coach Cliff Levingston, guard Eddy Barlow, VP/General Manager Kevin Spudic ("Kevin's Corner") and Hidden Hero guest Renee Connelly.
In this week's program, Cliff Levingston sizes up the Steelheads at the midway point of the USBL season. He comments on center Chris Alexander earning NBA tryouts with both the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks. The coach discloses that he nearly sought to trade guard Eddy Barlow, but he's glad he didn't in light of the recent surge in Barlow's play. His 16-assist performance against Brooklyn ranks as the best performance in the USBL this year. Barlow, also a guest on the program, talks about his slow start with the Steelheads after being named MVP of the CBA Finals this Spring. He tells listeners that he feels his game is now hitting stride.
In Kevin's Corner, team VP/GM Kevin Spudic looks ahead to the United States Basketball League Playoffs, including details on the USBL's tournament-style playoff system. He also previews two upcoming games with the Kansas Cagerz on Saturday night and late Memorial Day afternoon. And this week's Hidden Heroes segment features Gary Steelheads' Director of Marketing and Business Development, Renee Connelly. A tireless advocate for Northwest Indiana, Renee talks about how the Gary Steelheads are reaching out to communities throughout Northwest Indiana.
Showtime With the Steelheads is hosted and produced by Bill Hazen, the Steelheads' Director of Media/Public Relations. The program utilizes digital audio techniques to increase the audio quality of interview subjects, wherever they happen to be.
Showtime With the Steelheads is available for download at the OurSports Central web site (www.oursportscentral.com). Once downloaded, the program can be heard either directly on a computer, or it can be transferred to an .mp3 player for listening anywhere at any time. The program will be updated weekly throughout the current season.
