
Steelheads Magnigicent Seven open New Year with victory

Gary, IN: With three players staying in Gary with an assortment of injuries and illnesses, the Steelheads faced long odds against divisional rival Rockford as only seven players suited up for the divisional tilt. The seven Steelheads players in uniform were not to be denied as they left Rockford and opened the New Year with a 120-108 victory over the Lightning, capturing five quarter points.
The Steelheads were led in scoring by Darren Hancock who had a season and team high 37 points. Hancock's 37 points is the second highest in the CBA this season. Jimmie "Snap" Hunter continued to work his way back into form with 29 points. Hunter was seven for ten from three point range. Daniel Watts had 10 points and 12 rebounds and David Graves chipped in with 18 points. The Steelheads were a perfect 20 for 20 from the free throw line. Stais Boseman had a team high 21 points for the Lightning.
