
Steelheads Host Mayhem Thursday Night

GARY, Indiana (December 15, 2005) - The Gary Steelheads, locked in a tight race for first place in the CBA's Eastern Conference, host the Michigan Mayhem at the Genesis Center Thursday night. Gary is currently in second place in the division, 1/10th of a quarter point behind the Rockford Lightning.
The Steelheads have suffered losses in their last two games, 124-123 at Rockford Sunday and 106-97 to the Idaho Stampede at the Genesis Center Tuesday night. In the process, Gary has fallen back to .500 on the season with a 6-6 record.
Rebounding has been a prominent issue for the Steelheads in recent games. Gary lost the boards to Idaho 50-34. The Lightning outrebounded the Steelheads 46-33. On the season, Gary has been outrebounded by an average of 9.9 per game.
Guard Jimmie "Snap" Hunter continued his high-scoring ways against the Stampede, tossing in 30 points. Equally impressive, the 6-foot-4 former CBA Player of the Week grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds in the game.
The Mayhem are paced by the CBA's leading scorer, Alpha Bangura. He carries a 30.8 ppg. scoring average.
