
Steelheads Fall At Michigan, 96-85

GARY, Indiana (December 25, 2005) - The Michigan Mayhem spoiled Christmas Night for the Gary Steelheads with a 96-85 victory in Muskegon. With the loss, Gary fell back below the .500 mark with an 8-9 record and picked up only a single quarter point in defeat.
While the Steelheads won the rebounding battle for the second straight game (44-42), they committed 25 turnovers to Michigan's 15. Gary managed to win the first quarter, 22-21, but the Mayhem prevailed in every quarter after that.
Guard Jimmie "Snap" Hunter paced the Steelheads with 10-of-14 shooting from the field for a total of 22 points. He also grabbed 6 rebounds and passed out 4 assists. Randy Holcomb scored 16 points, and newly-acquired center Chris Alexander grabbed 12 rebounds. Gary had only four players in double figures for the evening.
The Mayhem attack was powered by guard Kevin Sweetwyne, who has played several of his best CBA games against the Steelheads. This time he scored 21 points, including 9-of-10 shooting from the foul line. His backcourt running mate, Karlton Mims, added 16 points. Former Steelheads' forward Jermain Williams turned in a double-double performance of 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners.
The Steelheads return home to face the Rockford Lightning at the Genesis Center on Wednesday night, December 28. Game time is 7:05PM.
