Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Game #18 / Home Game #8 / CBA Game #66

Christmas Tradition

The Sioux Falls Skyforce is hosting an annual Christmas game for the 17th straight season. The ‘Force has hosted a game on Christmas night each year since the team's inaugural season back in 1989. The ‘Force has an all-time record of 8-8 (.500) on Christmas night and hopes to improve on that record with a win over the Dakota Wizards tonight. ‘Force fans would like to forget about last seasons Christmas game as the Idaho Stampede came in and won 123-93 (7, 0) in front of 4,544 fans.

Wizards Reeling

The Wizards come into tonight's game on a season-high five-game losing streak. The ‘Force went 1-3 on their eastern conference road trip, however, were able to maintain a hold on second place as the Wizards also struggled on the road. With Josh Davis back in Idaho for now, the Stampede has won three in a row and are back in the playoff race after starting the season 1-4.

Christmas Gifts

Two teams in the CBA received gifts this holiday season that will definitely bring good fortunes to their organizations. First, the Albany Patroons have signed James Thomas, who will be in uniform tonight as the Patroons take on the Rockford Lightning. Thomas was released by the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this month and was the 2004-05 NBDL Rookie of the Year. The other team is the Yakama Sun Kings, who already are in high spirits thanks to a current eight-game winning streak. They just announced the signing of Ronny Turiaf, the second round selection (37th pick overall) of the Los Angeles Lakers in the past NBA Draft. He had major heart surgery which jeopardized his playing career but has been cleared to play. He is expected to be in the lineup on Monday night as the Sun Kings visit the Idaho Stampede.
