
Steelheads Defeat Albany Patroons 126-101; Extend Win Streak to Five Games

GARY, Indiana (February 10, 2006) - The Gary Steelheads extended their win streak to a season-best five games with a 126-101 victory over the Albany Patroons at the Genesis Center. In the process, Gary picked up six quarter points with the victory and improved their record to a high water mark of six games over .500 at 21-15.
The Patroons never lead in Friday night's game. The Steelheads scored 33 points or more in three of the four quarters, winning each of them. Gary grabbed the first quarter, 33-22. Albany responded with its only quarter point of the game, securing the second quarter 28-25. Gary scored 35 points in the third quarter and 33 in the fourth, building the lead to as high as 31 points.
The Steelheads were paced by guard Jimmie "Snap" Hunter, who fired in 30 points to go with 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 blocked shot. Forward Randy Holcomb came off the bench to toss in 24 points and block an incredible 5 shots. Guard Eric Chatfield hit 8-of-12 field goal attempts for 17 points and a game high 8 assists. Center Chris Alexander paced Steelheads' rebounders with 10, to go along with 8 points and 4 blocked shots.
The Patroons got a career-high performance from former Steelhead Edmund Saunders, who scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. His previous high of 31 points had come while in a Steelheads' uniform against the Patroons. He also handed out 4 assists and blocked 3 shots. Jamario Moon tossed in 25 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in a losing cause.
The two teams will meet again at the Genesis Center Saturday night. Once again, kids 12-and-under will receive free general admission seating when accompanied by an adult.
