GARY, Ind. (January 13, 2004) – The Gary Steelheads today added some size to their front line in signing 6-foot-9, 245-pound, center/forward Aki Thomas.

"We've added another big man that can help us with rebounding," Steelheads Head Coach Duane Ticknor said. "Aki has the size and some great experience playing in South America."

Thomas has also played in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. He was in the Yakima Sun Kings Veterans' Camp in 2002. He played at Howard University, where as a senior, he averaged 11.7 points and 8.1 rebounds in 31 games.
