Steel Win in Shootout

The Steel win 1-0 in a shoot-out against the Kenai River Brown Bears.

The Steel doubled the Brown Bears shots on goal, but still ended the 1st period scoreless. After strong play from both teams and stellar goaltending kept the 2nd period with nothing on the scoreboard. The 3rd period followed suit with no goals from either team to bring the game into overtime.

After 5 minutes of overtime play, there was still no goals the game went into a shootout. First up to shoot was for Kenai was Trey LeBarge and his goal was saved by Josh Langford. Connor Szmul was first to shoot for the Steel and his goal was saved by Gavin Enright. Alex Klekota and Andy Walker both attempted shots for Kenai and were blocked by Langford. After Camden Thiesing's shot for the Steel was saved, Killian Kicker-Olson found the back of the net and won the game for the Steel.

In goal for the Steel with the shutout was Josh Langford with 36 saves. For Kenai River was Gavin Enright with 37 out of 38 saves.

The Steel are back in action tomorrow night for Teddy Bear Toss presented by Sports Talk 105.1. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to toss on the ice after the first Steel goal is scored. The teddy bears will be donated through Family Promise of Chippewa Valley. Fans can get tickets at the door or online at chippewasteelhockey.com.
