St. Louis Steamers News Release
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Steamers will take on the Baltimore Blast this weekend for the rights to call themselves the Major Indoor Soccer League Champions. It would be the first indoor soccer championship for St. Louis since the 1994-95 St. Louis Ambush won. The Steamers are the number 1 seed in the MISL Championship Series while the Blast is the number 3 seed.
The Steamers defeated the Chicago Storm in a two game sweep in the Semi-Final round by scores of 7-1 and 9-2, easily moving past the number 4 seed. Baltimore battled to get past the 2 seed, Milwaukee Wave. They split the first two games but were able to get through to the Finals thanks to a series clinching goal by Machel Millwood in the second period of the "Golden Goal" session.
Game 1 will take place Friday night at Baltimore's 1st Mariner Arena beginning at 6:05 p.m. This is a building the Steamers have yet to win at this season. On the other hand, the Steamers will host the Blast on Sunday, April 30th at Savvis beginning at 12:00 p.m. St. Louis was a perfect 3-0 against Baltimore at Savvis and are a combined 15-1 during the regular and post season at home. If the teams spilt the two games, the Finals will be decided on a "Golden Goal" session immediately following the game. The first team to score win be named MISL Champions.
