St. Louis Steamers News Release

The St. Louis Steamers suffered a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Baltimore Blast in game one of the MISL Championship finals Friday night at 1st Mariner Arena. The two-game series concludes Sunday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. at Savvis Center.

St. Louis got on the board first in Friday's contest when Sandre Naumoski scored at 1:25 of the first quarter, assisted by Mali Walton. Baltimore drew even (1-1) on a power play goal by Robbie Aristodemo, assisted by Giuliano Celenza, at 13:53, and the opening frame ended with the score tied.

Baltimore took a 2-1 lead at 2:01 of the second quarter on a goal by Celenza, assisted by Machel Millwood. The Blast went up 3-1 on an unassisted tally by Adauto Neto at 7:56. The Steamers reduced their deficit to one on a restart goal by Joe Reiniger, assisted by Carlos "Chile" Farias at 12:53 and the first half expired with the Blast leading 3-2.

With neither team scoring in the third quarter, the final stanza kicked off with the Steamers trailing Baltimore by one. Jonathan Steele found the back of the net for the lone tally in the fourth quarter to seal Baltimore's 4-2 win.

The series now moves to Savvis Center in St. Louis for game two Sunday at 12:05 p.m. If Baltimore wins game two, they will become the MISL titleholders. If the Steamers even the series by winning game two, a "Golden Goal" sudden-death period will commence and the first team to score in the "Golden Goal" period will win the series and the MISL laurels. In either event, the new MISL Champions will be determined Sunday afternoon at Savvis Center.
