St. Louis Steamers News Release
ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Steamers (3-2) will be looking for a little payback and will face an opponent for the first time this weekend. On Friday, December16, the Steamers will be playing host to the Baltimore Blast (3-2) at Savvis Center at 7:35 p.m. They will follow that up with a game two days later on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. when they travel to the UIC - Chicago Pavilion to take on the Chicago Storm (2-4) on the campus of University of Illinois - Chicago.
The Steamers faced the Blast in their season opener on November 19 at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore and fell victim to a score of 12-5. Since then, the Steamers have gone 3-1 with their only loss coming on the road to the undefeated MISL Defending Champions, Milwaukee Wave. So far this season, the Steamers are undefeated at home with a record of 3-0.
During halftime of Friday night's contest, there will be a special tribute to the 1994-95 St. Louis Ambush. That squad remains the only St. Louis professional indoor team to win a league championship. The tribute will include a highlight video of the championship season and each of the team members will be presented with a commemorative plaque.
Sunday's match will be first of six games between the Steamers and Storm. In eight meetings last year, St. Louis won five of the games. While the Steamers are perfect at home, they're, unfortunately, perfect in another matter. On the road, they currently have an 0-2 record.
Each of these games will be crucial to the MISL standings. The Steamers and Blast are currently tied for second place with identical records of 3-2. While league-leading Milwaukee is idle this weekend, it gives the Steamers a great chance to gain some ground.
