St. Louis Steamers News Release

The Steamers scored 12 goals in a victory over the Baltimore Blast on Tuesday at Savvis Center, then traveled to Baltimore's 1st Mariner Arena on Saturday night and gave up the same amount. Baltimore handed St. Louis their fourth loss of the season in a 12-7 affair. St. Louis' record is now 11-4, while the Blast improved to 9-5.

The first quarter belonged to the Blast, with two goals by Giuliano Celenza and a tally by Joel Bailey, and the period ended with Baltimore leading 3-0.

The Steamers responded in the second quarter with two goals by Jamar Beasley to cut Baltimore's lead to 3-2. Baltimore increased their lead to 4-2 on Celenza's third goal of the night and his fourth hat trick of the season. Adauto Neto increased Baltimore's lead to 5-2 before Beasley completed a hat trick to bring the Steamers back to within two goals, 5-3. Carlos Farias assisted on all three of Beasley's goals. Rich Daughtridge scored in the last minute of the quarter to extend the Blast lead to 6-3 at halftime.

Farias got his fourth assist of the game when he found Genoni Martinez to cut Baltimore's lead to 6-4 early in the third quarter. Baltimore's David Bascome found the back of the net to put the Blast ahead 7-4. Bailey scored his second goal of the night to increase Baltimore's lead to 8-4. Joe Reiniger scored for St. Louis less than a minute later to cut the Blast lead to 8-5. Farias got his fifth assist of the night on a dish to Mariano Bollella to cut the lead to 8-6. Baltimore went back up by three (9-6) when Neto scored his second goal of the night in the last five seconds of the quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, Baltimore goalkeeper Sagu was given a yellow card for protesting a call. He then chased official Tim Tyma, who then gave Sagu a red card for foul language, which resulted in the Blast goalkeeper's automatic ejection. Backup goalkeeper Sanaldo replaced Sagu. With St. Louis goalkeeper Brett Phillips taken down by Baltimore's Lee Tschantret, Carlos Garcia put the ball in the open net to increase Baltimore's lead to 10-6. Steamers forward Joe Reiniger scored his second goal of the night to close the gap to 10-7. Baltimore went up 11-7 on a P.J. Wakefield goal. With the sixth attacker in play for St. Louis, Lee Tschantret scored to put Baltimore up 12-7.
