Vancouver Stealth News Release
(Vancouver, BC - Wednesday November 20, 2013) - The Vancouver Stealth announced that they have re-signed Brett Bucktooth to a one year contract for the 2014 season as he enters his 3rd season with the Stealth and 8th season in the NLL. Bucktooth spent 5 seasons with the Buffalo Bandits prior to joining the Stealth for the 2012 season. In his 8 year career Bucktooth's played in 77 regular season games adding 180 points (74g, 106a) and 266 loose balls.
The Stealth continue to bolster their roster as the 2014 season approaches and Bucktooth is sure to add even more to a Stealth offense that keeps getting better,
"Brett is another guy who can play a variety of different roles for us. He is an incredibly smart player and a big piece of our team. Since coming to the Stealth his game seems to be energized and we are looking for even bigger things from him this season," President and General Manager Doug Locker
Both players came to the Stealth in 2012 and couldn't be happier about the opportunity to continue their careers with the Stealth,
"It's exciting to get back with the guys, the last two years we've gone from the bottom to the top with the Stealth. My first year there we didn't make the playoffs then the next year we're playing in the championship game," said Bucktooth.
Bucktooth tallied a regular season career high in points during the 2013 season with 44 (16g, 28a) and was 5th on the team in goals (16). He also provided some big offensive numbers in the Stealth's 3 playoff games, as he continued his career year into the post-season adding 14 more points (4g, 10a). Bucktooth's 14 points in the playoffs was good enough for second on the team just 3 points behind Rhys Duch.
The 2014 season will bring a few changes, with the most significant being the Stealth's move to Vancouver, but Bucktooth is excited see what is like to play at the Stealth's new home,
"There is a lot of enthusiasm in the surrounding areas and I think it's going to add much more excitement at the Langley Events Centre," said Bucktooth.
Bucktooth hopes to see the team go deep into the playoffs as the Stealth are hungry for another title run,
"We want to get back to the Championship Game and win it," said Bucktooth.
The journey for another trip to the 2014 Champions Cup Final begins in Colorado on January 4th, followed by the Stealth's home opener at the Langley Events Centre on January 11th against the Minnesota Swarm.
