
Stealth defeat Rochester, 13-12

Rochester - The San Jose Stealth (3-4) scored a season high 13 goals against the Rochester Knighthawks (5-3) and needed each one to secure the 13-12 victory.
Stealth goaltender Anthony Cosmo showed why he was selected to start in next Saturday's NLL All-Star game. He stopped 44 shots and was solid all night long against the strong offense of the Knighthawks.
The Knighthawks were first out of the gate with two quick goals early in the first quarter. The Stealth answered back however with two goals, bringing the game to even at two goals a piece. The Knighthawks scored once more before the break, taking a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.
After two more quick Knighthawks goals to start the second quarter, the Stealth offense clicked, outscoring Rochester 6-1 for the remainder of the period. San Jose led 8-6 at half time.
In the third quarter San Jose kept ahead of Rochester, outscoring them 3-2 in the period. San Jose took an 11-8 lead into the fourth.
In the final period San Jose scored one more quick goal before the Knighthawks went to work chipping away at the lead. Rochester then scored three straight goals to bring the score to 12-11 before Kevin Fines netted a goal for the Stealth, ending Rochester's run. John Grant scored one more goal for the Knighthawks bringing the score to 13-12.
Fines, a second year forward, ended the game with three goals and one assist. He has played two strong games since returning from a hip injury earlier in the season.
Stealth rookie, Jeff Zywicki continued his strong season as he recorded two goals and two assists.
The Stealth take the victory into next week's All-Star game. Goaltender Cosmo, and forward Derek Malawsky will represent the Western Division.
The Stealth will next play on March 11 at the HP Pavilion against the Edmonton Rush.
