Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Windsor Spitfires would like to release the following statement from our President and Governor John Savage:
"As many of you know on March 12, 2020 the Ontario Hockey League paused all hockey activity. Today, April 20, 2021, the Commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League David Branch, announced the end of Return to Play Plans for the 2020-21 season," commented Windsor Spitfires President and Governor John Savage.ÃÂ ÃÂ "The Ontario Hockey League, along with its 20 member teams, worked tirelessly during this past year on many different options for a return to play this season, unfortunately our efforts were thwarted as the COVID-19 conditions worsened. This is a very difficult time for our players, prospects and their families. But, we know that they have all continued to work hard and will be well prepared to hit the ice when things open up.
I would like to extend a special thanks to the Spitfire staff who have worked hard throughout the year on game development improvements, as well as new and exciting fan experiences for the upcoming season.
To our entire Windsor and Essex county community, we cannot wait to welcome you back to the WFCU Centre, for the 2021-22 season. The Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club continues to explore ways to support and assist our community and business partners.ÃÂ
On behalf of the Windsor Spitfires we extend a special thanks to all our fans and sponsors for your support and encouragement over this past year - see you at the rink.ÃÂ
