Huntsville Stars News Release
Stars fans, the Huntsville Stars will welcome the Chattanooga Lookouts (Los Angeles Dodgers) for a five-game series beginning Thursday night. It's going to be a very busy five days, so clear out your schedule and make plans to attend. Like Chevy Chase said in one of those vacation movies, "Yer gonna have so much fun it'll take a plastic surgeon to wipe those smiles off your faces!" Here's what's on tap:
Thursday, June 13th at 6:43 PM...Thirst-Aid Thursday - Grab Some Buds!
$2 16-ounce Bud, Bud Light, and Amberbock drafts through the 7th inning! Nothing beats tradition on Thursdays!
Friday, June 14th at 6:43 PM...Spirit Card Giveaway, 2012 Uncut Card Sheet Giveaway, and Hatfield's & McCoy's
Early arriving fans will receive Spirit Cards courtesy of Academy Sports + Outdoors and 2012 Huntsville Stars Uncut Card Sheets (posters). These uncut card sheets are the complete 2012 Huntsville Stars baseball card sets in poster format. Nothing says cha-ching on eBay better than an uncut card sheet. For you true diehard fans, these posters make great gifts when framed. Early arriving fans get âem, so don't be late. We'll also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ending of the Hatfield's & McCoy's Feud. That's right, it's be 10 years since the families ended their feud. Who would've guessed? OK, Lurleen Mandi-Beth said she knew it would happen one day, but then again, she's related to both families. But other than Mike's better half, nobody else saw that coming. So, to thank the families for setting the example that people can live in harmony all fans with the last name of Hatfield or McCoy will be admitted free of charge for the game. But, just to be on the safe side, you Hatfields sit on the northern 3rd base side, you McCoy's stay south on the first base side. We'd don't want anything upsetting the chemistry or jinxing that truce. I'm sure Wireless Mike will have some bluegrass music queued up for you for in-game music.
Saturday, June 15th at 6:43 PM...McDonald's Youth Sports Night and Annual Armed Forces Night
All kids 12 and under wearing a youth sports team or scout uniform will receive free admission to Saturday's game courtesy of north Alabama McDonald's restaurants. All military personnel (Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Veterans, Retirees, and family members) will also be admitted free to the game courtesy of NetwoRx of Huntsville, the official IT company of the Huntsville Stars. During pre-game activities the Stars will dedicate a stadium seat to POW-MIA soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. The seat is painted black and has a commemorative plaque recognizing our POW-MIA and will become a permanent reserved seat at Joe Davis Stadium and remain empty in honor of our POWs & MIAs. On the concourse various military organizations (DAV, American Legion, AmVets, etc.) will conduct membership drives. Members of the Vulcan (Alabama) and Chattanooga (Eastern Tennessee) Chapters of the 82d Airborne Association will participate in the game's honorary first pitch ceremony and line up with the Stars and Lookouts for the National Anthem. Fireworks sponsored by FOX 54 and Star 99.1 will follow the game.
Sunday, June 16th at 4:03 PM...Father's Day, Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure (Prostate Cancer Awareness) and The Real Yellow Pages Sunday
Early arriving fans will receive a free Bingo card to play along to win prizes during the game courtesy of The Real Yellow Pages. During the game men will be encouraged to visit the Ed Randall's Fans for the Cure table on the concourse and learn about prostate cancer. Ed Randall is a New York radio personality who beat prostate cancer. Ed made it his life's mission to make men aware of the signs, symptoms, and treatment of this disease. Ladies, ensure your husband or boyfriend stops by the table for free information. We know that most men avoid the doctor until there's a problem. That's why every year we join up with Ed on Father's Day because there is no better day to make your dad or husband get the information. Random prizes will be given away during the game to those men that stop by the table and register...there's no cost and you could win some great prizes! And, because Father's Day wouldn't be complete without some more family fun, immediately following the game kids can play catch with Dads in the outfield and run the bases. What a great opportunity to make some childhood memories with your kids!

This game is marked as June's small business buy-out night. Over 55 businesses from Fayetteville (TN) to Athens to Arab have purchased tickets for their customers for this game. A complete list of participating businesses is located on our Facebook page and also broadcast via the team's Twitter account (@HuntsvilleStars).
Also this week:
The Huntsville Stars players, coaches and staff will be visiting Huntsville Hospital on the morning of Friday, June 14th. The team will also visit various areas of the hospital, including the Pediatric Child's Life unit where the players and coaches will visit with patients and distribute autographed Stars memorabilia.
This five-game home stand will complete the first half of the 2013 season. The Birmingham Barons have clinched the North Division's 1st half championship and have been awarded a playoff berth in September. In the South Division there are four teams (Jacksonville, Mobile, Mississippi, and Montgomery) all separated by two games with five to play. On Tuesday all teams' records will be reset to 0-0 for the 2nd half of the season.
On Saturday, July 27th, the Nashville Predators caravan will make a stop at Joe Davis Stadium for Hockey Night. If you're a hockey fans in Huntsville, this will be your night to attend a baseball game. If you're a Preds fan, even more so as the Preds are offering you free admission to the game if you're wearing a Nashville Predators shirt. Write that date down as it is also Darnell Coles Bobblehead Night! Somebody's going to have to shoot out the first puck to Darnell; guarantee you that DC wear's catcher's gear for this one..
