Stars Make Final Playoff Push

February 11, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Tacoma Stars News Release

After dropping back to back home games to the defending champion San Diego Sockers last weekend, the Stars are poised for a playoff run with two games remaining.

At 8-6 the Stars need to win their last two games to help their playoff chances. The Star's first task will be to take down the Kitsap Pumas. The Pumas beat the Stars 8-5 in their last meeting.

The Stars will look to stop the two game skid (the longest streak in 3 years) Saturday night.

Stars coach Greg Howes, "The Pumas are a real good young side and are getting better each game. It was obvious last weekend that defensively we have to be stronger and offensively we have to be more dangerous. With some changes in the line-up, including the insertion of GK Ryan Thompson, the Stars are looking for the right mix to accomplish their goal of reaching championship weekend."

Saturday night is Fan Appreciation Night at the Soccer Center and is the last home game of the year. The first year pro-side is excited and looking forward to the last weeks of the season.

Howes, "Our goal at the beginning of the year was to get into the playoffs. Everyone wants to go undefeated and win every game, but reality is we set goals we felt we could achieve and with two games to play we are in line to reach goal number one. Everyone's ultimate goal is to hoist the trophy and raise banners; after goal number one is achieved then we can collectively focus on what we have to be successful. The way I look at it is we have two must win games."
