TRAVERSE CITY - The will be a Game 5. That much was decided on Friday at Centre ICE arena, as the Traverse City North Stars rolled to a clutch 4-2 victory over the Mahoning Valley Phantoms in the penultimate contest of the teams' NAHL North Division semifinal series. Kyle Jean (Sault Ste. Marie, MI/TC North Stars) had a goal and an assist, including the game-winning tally, as the North Stars staved off elimination and set up the all-or-nothing showdown on Sunday evening in downtown Youngstown. Tyler Stephens (Rockford, MI/TC North Stars) had a pair of assists, while goalkeep C.J. Motte (St. Clair, MI/Honeybaked AAA) snuffed 16 of 18 shots. The North Stars scored early on in each of the three periods on Friday, with Eric McLintock (Traverse City, MI/TC North Stars) getting things started 4:56 into the contest. Jarrod LaBelle (Bay City, MI/TC North Stars) posted an unassisted shorthanded tally 2:26 into the third period, while Kyle Bonis (Lindsay, ONT/TC North Stars) levied the lone lamplighter of the final frame a mere seven seconds in. Jean potted his power play game-winner with 3:17 to play in the second stanza. Travis White (Sterling Hts., MI/St. Louis NAHL) and Mike Schenfeld (Littleton, CO/Lake Forest Prep) drew an assist each. Sunday's decisive Game 5 will face off at 7 p.m. at the Chevrolet Centre.
