HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - There might have been heat advisories this past week, but the Huntsville Stars and The Salvation Army are thinking about Christmas trees and winter wonderlands. The two are teaming up for the "Christmas in July" fundraiser this coming Sunday, July 24 at Joe Davis Stadium to kick-start this year's holiday toy drive.

Fans are encouraged to donate a new, unwrapped toy to help "Stuff the Bus" in exchange for $1 admission to the Stars game against the division-rival Chattanooga Lookouts. The first 1,500 fans to donate will receive a mini red kettle charm. The Salvation Army's signature Red Kettle will be on hand along with volunteer sign-ups for the Christmas campaign. Fans of all ages can take pictures with Mr. Christmas himself, Santa Claus, and listen to the delightful melodies of Christmas-themed music before the game.

"The Salvation Army helps so many families during the holidays and it really is a year-round effort. We're proud to support the Salvation Army and their annual toy drive. We're excited to see the generous people of Huntsville and Madison County support the cause and give back," said Buck Rogers, General Manager of the Stars.

The fun begins at 6 p.m. with a Christmas band performing in front of the stadium to entertain fans. First pitch is scheduled for 6:43 p.m. For tickets and more information, contact the Huntsville Stars at (256) 882-2562 or huntsvillestars.com! Don't forget, you can keep up with all the latest promotions and information on your hometown team at Facebook, Twitter and the official newsletter!
