Stars bring perfect record to Indiana

ICE FOLD TWICE AGAINST GAMBLERS: The Ice fell to 1-8-1 in their last ten meetings against Green Bay dating back to last season after the Gamblers took both games in an early season home and home series this past weekend. Green Bay defeated Indiana 7-4 Saturday night in Green Bay, as the Gamblers erupted for four goals in the first which included a hat trick from forward Sergio Somma. Garrett Roe (2G), John Kemp and Mike Gurtler tallied goals for the Ice. The Gamblers completed a weekend sweep with a 5-4 victory at the Pepsi Coliseum on Sunday using seven third period power plays to their advantage. Scoring goals for the Ice was Roe, Gurtler, Pat Kenney and Jake Skjodt.

ON A "ROE"-LL: Ice veteran Garrett Roe scored three times over the weekend against Green Bay increasing his total to four on the year. He has scored in every game this season and has passed out two helpers. His six total points tie him for third best in the league.

STILL PERFECT: The Lincoln Stars (4-0-0) will enter Pepsi Coliseum as one of three unbeaten teams remaining in the USHL. In four games, the Stars are averaging a league-leading six goals a game while only allowing a meager 2.5 in those same games. Lincoln's Jared Brown was named USHL Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 9th after big performances against Omaha and Sioux Falls. His ten points (4G, 6A) leads the USHL. All-time, the Ice is 4-4-1 in two years against the Stars.

ICE NOTES: Mike Gurtler has goals in two straight games, while Jake Skjodt and Pat Kenney scored their first USHL goals in Sunday's loss....Garrett Roe (4G, 2A), John Kemp (G, 3A) and Mike Phillippi (3A) have points in all three Ice games this year....Indiana's power play is first in the league (5-16, 31.3%)...The Ice is tied with Green Bay as the most penalized team in the USHL (31.3 PIMS/game).

ALUMNI WAVES: Tomas Klempa (2004-05) scored a goal in the University of Nebraska-Omaha's season opener against Colorado College.... Bowling Green's Todd McIlrath (2004-06) scored with 53 seconds remaining to force a 5-5 tie with the University of Alabama-Huntsville and passed out two assists on the night.... Michigan State's Jay Sprague (2005-06) had two assists over the weekend in games against Western Michigan.
