Tacoma Stars News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Stars are proud to announce four more rostered players prior to tonights season opener. Jeff Bader, Kris Bowers, Ryan Thompson and Chris Sanders have been added to an already strong group. Head Coach Greg Howes had a few words about each one of these Tacoma Stars.

Jeff Bader... "Jeff is strong physical defender, that can contribute on both sides of the ball. Our team depth and defense is good, and with a very strong Pre-season, Jeff has claimed a spot on the back line. Competition between the defenders, will ultimately create an environment that will keep Jeff training and playing at a high level."

Kris Bowers... "Kris is another stronger tenacious defender that forwards don't want to be marked up against. Kris has the ability to serve good balls from the back and also possesses a lethal long range shot. Kris has lots of indoor experience and will be a key contributor on man down and defensive restarts. Depth at the defensive position will push Kris to play at a higher level and like always he will be ready for the challenge."

Ryan Thompson... "Ryan has been with the team primarily as a backup for the last 2 years. He has come out of his shell this year and has been playing at a high level. His shot blocking and understanding of the game is very good. Distribution is a key component at the indoor GK position, Ryan has worked hard in the off-season and has proven that he can step in and be a starting keeper in this league. It will be key this year that Ryan continues to push our GK's and stays hunger for his opportunity."

Chris Sanders... "Chris Sanders has tremendous potential as an indoor player. A big bodied, athletic player that can create match up problems for any defender. He has the ability to post-up and hold the ball up and also can come out of the zone and face guys up 1v1. I look for Chris to continue improving and getting more comfortable with the indoor game. For a big player he has great technical ability and has a nose for the goal, which a key attributes for being a dominant indoor player. I look for Chris to improve as the season moves along and contribute in many ways."

More players will be announced later today. Player profiles can be viewed online at http://TacomaStars.com/index.php?q=Roster

The Tacoma Stars will open their PASL Pro season tonight Saturday, November 13th vs Kitsap Pumas at The Soccer Center in Tacoma. Fans can buy tickets at TacomaStars.com or at The Soccer Center.
