
Standouts Fill All-af2 Teams

CHICAGO - Players from 20 of af2's 27 teams represent the 2003 ALL-af2 First and Second Teams for the American and National Conferences, the League office announced today.
For the first time in history, the League named an ALL-af2 First and Second Team for each conference using votes collected from af2 head coaches and members of the media. The four ALL-af2 teams each consist of 12 players, with several record-setting players among the mix.
Among the ALL-af2 First team selections in the American Conference is Albany Conquest QB RYAN VENA, who broke the single season record by passing for 4,462 yards. Greensboro Prowlers WR/DB BOBBY SIPPIO earned his first ALL-af2 selection and was the first player in af2 history to earn Ironman of the Week honors for three consecutive weeks and four times in the same season. Also highlighting the American Conference First Team selections is Cape Fear Wildcats FB/LB WILMONT PERRY, who set a new af2 mark with 28 rushing touchdowns on the season.
In the National Conference, Quad City QB TONY ZIMMERMAN earns First team honors, as he set a new af2 mark with 93 touchdown passes during the regular season. Other notable First-Team mentions include Peoria's JACK WALKER, who led the league in scoring and set an af2 record with 45 touchdown receptions this season, and Arkansas' KAHLIL CARTER who's 14 interceptions were one shy of the all-time single season mark.
The Tulsa Talons lead the league with eight overall selections, while the Tennessee Valley Vipers has the most American Conference picks with six. Quad City and Tulsa both lead the way with three First-Team selections, while the Richmond Speed and Birmingham Steeldogs lead the American Conference with two First-Team selections.
