
Stamps to Honour Recipients of Stan Schwartz - Heart of a Champion Awards

The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is proud to announce the three winners of the Stan Schwartz - Heart of a Champion Awards for 2018. Each student-athlete will be recognized in a special halftime ceremony during the Western Final at McMahon Stadium on Nov. 18.
This year's winners are local high school football players in their senior year who were nominated by their respective coaches. Contributions to their team off the field in addition to their school and community, as well as athletic and personal perseverance, are the criteria for this prestigious award, which was introduced in 2009.
The following players have been selected for their outstanding achievements:
Nik Ulysses Fourlas - Henry Wise Wood High School
Bryden O'Flaherty - Bishop O'Byrne High School
Logan Roscoe - John G. Diefenbaker High School
Former Stampeders executive vice-president Stan Schwartz - the namesake of the award and a member of the team's Wall of Fame - will be on-field during the ceremony to present each student-athlete with a personalized plaque and a commemorative trophy for their school to display.

Nik Ulysses Fourlas - Henry Wise Wood High School
Plays linebacker and serves as a team captain for the Warriors
Succeeds in IB programming courses with honour-roll recognition
Acts as a school ambassador, meeting with parent groups regarding his school and community
Volunteers at the Calgary Food Bank, his local church and as a guest coach with peewee and bantam football
Competes on Henry Wise Wood's track and field, rugby and soccer teams
Bryden O'Flaherty - Bishop O'Byrne High School
Plays quarterback and serves as a team captain for the Bobcats
Serves on Bishop O'Byrne's student council and volunteers at the AgeCare Retirement Home
Prepares and delivers Christmas hampers through the parish of St. Albert the Great
Regularly receives academic honours with distinction and maintains a 97-per cent grade average
Plans to pursue a business degree before attending law school
Logan Roscoe - John G. Diefenbaker High School
Plays linebacker as well as offensive line for the Chiefs
Excels in the classroom and on his school's wrestling and rugby teams
Assists as a sports medicine trainer for various other teams at John G. Diefenbaker
Donates his time in various roles to minor hockey organizations
Displays leadership qualities by supporting his teammates, school and family in a selfless manner
