Calgary Stampeders News Release

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive backs Mike MIckens and Ronnie Amadi as well as import linebacker Eryk Anders have signed contracts with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Mickens was a seventh-round draft pick (277th overall) of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2009 National Football League draft. He spent parts of 2009 on the Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals practice squads and also spent time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' roster. Mickens spent four seasons at the University of Cincinnati and was named first-team All-Big East as a junior in 2007 and second-team all-conference as a senior in 2008. He also earned first-team All-America honours from the Football Writers Association in 2007.

Anders played on the 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide squad that went undefeated and claimed the national title. He was among the team leaders with 66 tackles, including 14.5 tackles for loss, six sacks and was first on the club with 17 quarterback hurries. He also forced three fumbles, recovered a fumble and made one interception. Anders had a sack and forced fumble in the Alabama's win over Texas in the national championship game.

Amadi started the first 11 games of the 2009 season with the Stamps before being sidelined by injury. For the season, he accumulated 27 tackles to go with one sack, one special-teams tackle and three pass knockdowns. Prior to signing with Calgary in 2009, Amadi spent time with the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League. Before turning pro, Amadi played four years with the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
