The Calgary Stampeders have signed free-agent American quarterback Matthew Shiltz. The 31-year-old St. Charles, Ill., product is a veteran of six Canadian Football League seasons - four with the Montreal Alouettes and two with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In 2023, Shiltz played 11 regular-season games and made three starts for Hamilton, completing 108 of 161 passes (a 67.1-per completion rate) for 1,556 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 23 carries for 160 yards and one touchdown. In the Eastern Semi-Final, Shiltz completed 13 of 23 passes for 144 yards and had four rushing attempts for 34 yards.

In 78 career regular-season games for the Alouettes and Ticats, Shiltz has completed 338 of 517 passes for a 65.4-per cent completion rate. He has 4,357 career passing yards and 19 passing touchdowns. On the ground, he has 101 carries for 615 yards and four TDs.
