The Sioux Falls Stampede earned two wins at home over the weekend, posting victories over Des Moines and Lincoln.

On Friday, the Stampede defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers 10-5 at the Sioux Falls Arena. The Herd jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Pat Mullen, Tom Gorowsky and Andreas Nödl. The Bucs responded scoring two goals in the last four minutes of the period to cut the lead to 3-2 after one period.

The Bucs tied the game at 6:45 of the second before Mullen tallied his second goal of the game at 8:04 to give the Herd a 4-3 lead. Minutes later, Justin Milo recorded a goal to make it 5-3. Andreas Nödl then recorded his second goal of the game at 19:10. Just 35 seconds later Nate Prosser scored to give the Herd a 7-3 lead after two periods. Des Moines would score twice in the third, but Gorowsky, Andrew Carroll and Justin White all tallied goals in the period to lift the Stampede to a 10-5 victory.

STAMPEDE TOP FIRST PLACE STARS

On Saturday, the Herd defeated the West Division leading Lincoln Stars 2-1 at the Sioux Falls Arena. After a scoreless first period, the Stampede got on the board at 12:06 of the second when Andrew Carroll recorded his fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0 after one period. Mick Berge scored 51 seconds into the second period for Lincoln to tie the game at one. The game would remain tied until the 4:24 mark when Justin White knocked in a loose rebound for his fifth goal of the season to give the Stampede a 2-1 lead. Greg Barrett stopped all eight Lincoln shots in the third and the Stampede captured a 2-1 victory. Barrett made 24 saves on the night, earning his seventh victory of the season.

Thomas Vanek recorded his first professional goal in Rochester's 3-2 overtime loss to Manitoba on Friday...J.B. Bittner recorded two goals and two assists in Ohio State's weekend split versus Western Michigan...Jeff Prough recorded his first collegiate point on Friday, tallying an assist in Brown's 2-2 tie with Harvard...Andy Sertich had a goal while Alex Goligoski chipped in two assists in Minnesota's 9-2 win over MSU-Mankato on Friday. Kellen Briggs stopped 40 shots in between the pipes...Joe Jensen had three assists in SCSU's 7-2 win over Princeton on Friday and a goal and an assist in the Huskies 10-0 win over Yale on Saturday. Dave Iannazzo had two goals while Mike Doyle added two assists in the win.
