Harrisburg Stampede News Release
HARRISBURG, PA (Apr 8, 2014) - The Harrisburg Stampede (1-1) look to take on the Lehigh Valley Steel Hawks (1-0) this Friday at Giant Center.
The Stampede team is coming off a tough cross-division road loss to the Nashville Venom. The score remained close throughout most of the game, until a couple late 4th quarter scores from the Venom offense put the game out of reach (40-31 Final). The Stampede look to rebound at home this weekend versus in-state rival Lehigh Valley.
The Lehigh Valley Steel Hawks are coming off a nail biting 48-47 win over the National division opponent Trenton Freedom. In a tight seesaw battle, the Steelhawks offense was led by WR Brandon Renford (113 all-purpose yards and 3 total TDs), as he caught the go-ahead score with 33 seconds left in the contest. The Steelhawks defense was led by DB Dwayne Hollis in a dominant defensive effort (10 tackles and two interceptions).
This is the first of three matchups between the Stampede and Steelhawks this season. The inaugural game in this in-state rivalry should prove to be very exciting, as the winner of this matchup will move to the top of the standings in the National division.
Matchup to Watch
Stampede WR Scorpio Brown leads the Stampede in receptions and receiving yards thru two games. His size and strength creates mismatches against opposing defenders.
Steelhawks DB Dwayne Hollis finished the opener with a team high 10 tackles and 2 key interceptions.
Kickoff is set for 7:05pm EST from PinnacleHealth Field at Giant Center, Hershey PA.
