Stampede Gain Four Points, Host Ohio Thursday and Friday

The Sioux Falls Stampede recorded wins over Des Moines and Omaha this week to improve to 15-13-2 on the year and 5-2-0 since the winter break.

On Wednesday, the Stampede made another

miraculous comeback, rallying from a 4-1 deficit in the third period for a 6-5 shootout win. Corey Tropp netted two goals, including the tying goal with 1:17 remaining in regulation, while Zach Redmond tallied the only goal of the shootout. Matt Lundin stopped all five shooters in the shootout for his eighth win of the season.

After falling 6-1 on Friday to Waterloo, the Stampede bounced back Saturday night, defeating the Omaha Lancers 3-2 at the Mid America Center. Tropp posted two goals while Redmond finished with a with a goal and an assist in the win. Lundin stopped 22 shots to earn his fourth consecutive win in goal for the Stampede.

SIX STAMPEDE PLAYERS RANKED

IN NHL MID-TERM RANKINGS-

Four current, one future and one former Stampede player are ranked in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term rankings of the top players eligible for the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Brad Malone, Corey Tropp, Jordy Christian, Alexei Dostoinov, Jake Hansen and John Murray are all listed by NHL Central Scouting. The rankings list North American and European players separately, as well as separating goalies from skaters (forwards and defensemen). The North American lists rank 210 skaters and 30 goalies, all playing in the U.S. and Canada.

Here is a closer look at the players and their rankings:

Brad Malone (63rd Overall)

First year forward Brad Malone, is ranked 63rd amongst North American forwards. The Miramichi, New Brunswick native has 13 points (5g, 8a) and is a +4 in 29 games this season. Last year, Malone played with Cushing Academy in Massachusetts. He has already committed to the University of North Dakota for the 2007-08 season.

Jake Hansen (80th Overall)

A futures pick of the Stampede, Hansen is tearing it up this season at White Bear Lake High School. Hansen leads the Twin Cities Metro Area in scoring and is 9th overall in the state with 44 points (19g, 25a) in 17 games for the Bears who are in second place in the Suburban East Conference (6-2-0, 8-9-0 overall). Hansen, who will join the Stampede next season, has already committed to the University of Minnesota.

Corey Tropp (82nd Overall)

Tropp is in his second season with the Stampede and has already surpassed his point total from last season (15) through just 28 games. He leads the Stampede in total points (35), goals (15) and assists (20). His 35 points rank 9th in the USHL. The Grosse Pointe, MI native is committed to Michigan State University.

Jordy Christian

(122nd Overall)

Christian, who will rejoin the Stampede at the end of his high school season, currently has 37 points (17g, 20a) in 13 games with the Moorhead Spuds. Earlier this year, Christian recorded two points (1g, 1a) in two games with the Stampede.

Alexei Dostoinov

(Limited Viewing)

The first year forward from Moscow, Russia, Dostoinov has been listed as a player whom scouts have had a limited opportunity to watch, but should be considered as a possible draft pick. Dostoinov has six points (2g, 4a) in 19 games this season with the Stampede. The Stampede added Dostoinov to their roster back on October 13th.

John Murray

(15th Overall)

Former Stampede netminder, John Murray is ranked 15th amongst draft eligible goaltenders. Murray posted a 23-7-1 record with a 2.14 GAA and a .930 save percentage last year with the Stampede. Murray holds Stampede team records for best Goals-Against-Average in a season (2.14), best Save Percentage in a season (.930) and best Save Percentage in a career (.918). Murray is currently playing with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League where he currently ranks first amongst all goaltenders in the league with a 26-6-1 record, a 2.32 GAA, and a .918 save percentage.

STAMPEDE ADD FOSS TO ROSTER-

The Stampede announced today that they have added defenseman Jeff Foss to their roster. Foss is currently playing with Jordy Christian at Moorhead High School in Moorhead, MN.

Foss, who is currently the team captain for Moorhead, posted 11 points (3, 8a) in his first six games with the Spuds. He, along with Christian, will join the Stampede at the end of his high school season. Foss (6'1" 190-pounds) was also ranked (151st) in the NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings.

"We felt this was a unique opportunity to bring in one of the best defenseman in the state of Minnesota," said Stampede head coach Kevin Hartzell. "He is someone who can come in and help our team down the stretch while at the same time gain valuable playing experience which will help him in his return to Sioux Falls next season."

MALL GOLF STARTS THIS FRIDAY!

The ever popular "Mall Golf," makes its return to The Empire Mall starting this Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM. This special indoor fundraising promotion, created by the Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club in conjunction with the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire, will provide shoppers and visitors at The Empire Mall with a unique opportunity to play mini golf on weekends from January 19th through February 25th.

MALL GOLF features nine (9) miniature golf holes, each designed and custom built by the area's finest and most prominent home builders. The course will be spread out inside the wings of Macy's, Sears and Lane Bryant.

The cost is just $5 to play all nine holes or you can sample a hole of choice at a coast of $1 per hole. Last year, Mall Golf debuted with over 2,300 guests playing the course and $23,000 in golf game funds raised & distributed for three area charities.

100% of this season's proceeds will support the Stampede Foundation For Kids benefiting Sanford Children's Hospital, the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire Educational & Scholarship Programs, and Special Olympics South Dakota.
