Stampede Express hits the Airwaves

With training camp underway and the season just a couple of weeks away all the pieces for the 2006 season of Stampede Express football are almost in place. The coaching staff has been assembled, the players are in town, the dance team and junior dance team are in rehearsals for opening night, even the teams goal of 1,000 season tickets sold has been reached. Today, the final piece of the puzzle has been put in place. The San Angelo Stampede Express of the Intense Football League has finalized their radio deal.

The Stampede Express and Foster Communications have partnered up to broadcast all the 2006 away games. Home games will not be broadcast. All of the away games can be heard on KKSA 1260 AM. The Stampede Express is proud to join forces with the broadcast company whose sports line-ups include Angelo State University, Central & Lake View High School sports, the Texas Rangers, Houston Texans, University of Texas, and San Angelo Colts Baseball. The games will begin with a 20 minute pre-game show and end with a 15 minute post-game show.

Play-by-Play duties will be performed by John Perry. John is a 1999 graduate of Angelo State University with a degree in Communications. Mr. Perry's resume includes stints as the weekend sports anchor at NBC 3, news director at KKCN/KCSE, and two seasons as the play-by-play voice of Outlaws Hockey. He is currently the Director of Ticket Sales for the Stampede Express. Former Stampede Head Coach Chris Simpson will join him in the booth and will handle the color commentary.

The Stampede Express opens their third season in an exhibition game at Odessa on April 22nd. The regular season and home opener is the following Saturday, April 29th against the CenTex Barracudas. Season and individual game tickets are available by calling 947-DOWN (3696).
