Stammer Suspended Three Games

Published on April 19, 2021 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

Montreal, QC - The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Éric Chouinard, today suspended Wildcats forward Owen Stammer for 3 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on April 18th against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

"After he was checked by the Titan player, Owen Stammer of the Moncton Wildcats attempted to break away from his opponent by hitting him with his skate. This is simply unacceptable and could have had serious consequences."

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials' report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
