Springfield Stallions News Release

The Springfield Stallions announced that they have signed former University of Illinois standout, linebacker Winston Taylor.

Following his college career, Taylor was signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Miami Dolphins. He was credited with five tackles during the 2004 pre-season. He spent time playing in Europe before returning to the Dolphins and being signed to their practice squad.

Taylor spent the 2006 season playing for Bloomington of the United Indoor Football League. He led the league in tackles with 135 and finished the season with 4.5 sacks. Taylor played his high school ball at Mount Zion High School outside of Decatur, Illinois, where he earned three varsity letters in football and won a state wrestling title. He spent the first two years of his college career at Eastern Illinois University before transferring to the University of Illinois.

Stallions defensive coordinator Kevin Gade stated, "The caliber of player that Winston Taylor is, gives us an instant cornerstone to build our defense around."

The Springfield Stallions will begin play in the Continental Indoor Football League in 2007. The Stallions will play their home games on Midwest Technical Institute Field inside the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
