A look at the teams:
The Spirit is coming off a tough 75-67 loss to the Dallas Fury, but after the loss Coach Verdi stated, "Tonight's game however, was not a preview of the season. "We have better players than we showed tonight."
Birmingham (0-1) is coming off a 85-75 defeat by the Houston Stealth and will also be traveling the day of the game as they are set to take on the Dallas Fury on Saturday, January 24th in Birmingham.
Game Day Promotion:
President and Owner, Stephen Fox stated, "This upcoming game on January 25th is set to be UMASS Day. We are offering the alumni, teachers and students $5 off adult tickets with a UMASS ID and the chance to meet former UMASS great Jennifer Butler after the game."
The NWBL: The NWBL is comprised of six teams: Colorado Chill, Chicago Blaze, Dallas Fury, Springfield Spirit, Houston Stealth and Birmingham Power. The season runs through March 23, and a four-team, single-elimination playoff begins April 1 at sites to be determined.
In the league: After one game Swin Cash is currently fifth in the league in scoring at 20.0 points per game and is first in rebounds at 15.0 per game, while also being tied for fourth with assists with 4.0 per game. Other Springfield players that are currently among the league leaders are Cindy Blodgett with 2.0 steals per game (Tied 5th) and Stacy Clinesmith who is tied for first with 6.0 assists per game.
On the mend: Former UMASS standout Jennifer Butler is still rehabbing her ailing knee from ACL surgery this spring. She is working in rehab and is hopeful to be with the team in late February or early March. She was drafted by the Sacramento Monarchs in the supplemental draft held in early January, 2004.
All-Star Game: The Colorado Chill will host the NWBL's first-ever All-Star Game on Feb. 16, President's Day. Contests and events begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the game at 3 p.m. at the Budweiser Events Center. The game will feature the top players as voted on by the league coaches.
Cathedral High School: Is a 4-year, college preparatory, co-educational regional Catholic high school with college preparatory, business and technology, as well as general studies. Our student body numbers about 785. These students represent 66 parishes and come from 18 Catholic elementary and 26 junior high schools in Springfield and surrounding areas. Approximately 94 percent of our graduates continue studies beyond high school. Our students follow a seven period schedule within which one full credit in religion is required each year.

Take exit 4 (E. Longmeadow, Rte. 83). Go down ramp to light; take a left following signs to Rte. 83. Go straight through next light and turn right up Longhill St. (steep hill). At light at top of hill turn left onto Sumner Ave. Stay on Sumner Ave. for 2.1 miles (ignore signs for Rte. 83). Take a left onto Roosevelt Ave. (Seventh Day Adventist Church on corner). Go through 2 sets of lights (1.7 miles), and then take 2nd left onto Surrey Rd. Cathedral will be on your right. The first driveway leads to the back parking lot and the gym, the third driveway leads to the front of the school

Tickets may also be charged over the phone at 413-787-6600, 800-639-8602 (SCC) and at 860-832-1989 (CCSU). Tickets for the 2004 season may also be purchased on line at www.ticketmaster.com tickets costs at CCSU are $20, $15, and $10 for adults and $12 and $10 for juniors under 18. At Cathedral H/S the tickets are $15 and $12 for adults and $10 for Junior under 18.
