Philadelphia Barrage News Release
Philadelphia, PA (June 19, 2006) - The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that attackman Mike Springer wins the MLL Offensive Player of the Week for week five. Springer scored three goals and had three assists for six points. He scored the first goal for the Barrage in their exciting 13-12 win over the Long Island Lizards, Saturday at Mitchel Field. Springer stepped up to be the dominant attackman for the Barrage with the absence of Ryan Boyle and Jed Prossner. Springer is in second place on the Barrage with a total of 16 points (11G, 5A).
"It's great to have Mike step up to the plate with Boyle and Prossner out," said head coach, Tony Resch. "We'll need him to play like that again against Boston."
Springer is tied in 17th place in the league for leading scorer along with fellow Barrage player Boyle and Chris Fiore (BOS), Jeff Sonke (NJ) and A.J. Haugen (DEN).
Philadelphia remains the only undefeated team at 5-0 in the MLL and they wrap up their road trip in Boston against the Cannons. The Barrage return home on June 29 against the Boston Cannons.
