For only the second time this season the Shreveport Sports have put back-to-back wins together as they defeated the Jackson Senators 9-7 Monday in the final game of the four-game series.

The Sports survived three home runs by Jackson which accounted for all but one of their seven runs.

Shreveport broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning scoring five runs and they did it with only three hits. There were two walks in the inning along with an error and two wild pitches by losing hurler Matt McAlpin.

Eric Wikstrom pitched five innings to get his first win of the season for the Sports while Carl Makowsky came in to get the final out of the game, recording his first save of the year.

The Sports will open up a three-game series at San Angelo Tuesday night and return home to start a three-game series with Pensacola Friday at Fair Grounds Field.
