Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
For the second consecutive night the Shreveport Sports and Edinburg played extra innings Friday at Fair Grounds Field. However, unlike Thursday, this time it was Edinburg the winner 8-7 in ten innings.
Edinburg second baseman Anthony Angel lined a pitch off losing pitcher John Parker (1-1) over the left field fence to give the Roadrunner the victory over the Sports.
It was a dramatic comeback for the Roadrunners to post the victory as Shreveport had a 7-3 lead in the ninth when Edinburg scored four runs to tie the contest. With two outs and the bases loaded Aaron Sisk unloaded a double and then one batter later Benjamin Cordova singled to score Sisk and tie the game at 7-7.
The Sports would threatened in the bottom of the ninth with runners at first and third and one out, but winning pitcher Gene DeSalme (1-0) struck out Jarrett Roenicke and Kevin Webster to end the threat.
After back to back extra inning games, the Sports and Edinburg will play game three of the four game series Saturday at 7:05 pm at Fair Grounds Field.
Final again, Edinburg 8, Shreveport 7 (10 innings)
